JAMMU, Nov 14: The State Government employees, temporary workers and pensioners today held strong protest demonstration and dharna in front of the office of Divisional Commissioner, Rail Head complex here today.
A large number of employees, daily wagers, casual and contractual workers besides pensioners assembled under the banner of J&K Govt Employees, Casual Labours, Workers & Pensioners United Platform at Panama Chowk and started protest rally towards Divisional Commissioner’s office. Mohd Gafoor Dar (convenor), Tanveer Hussain, Rajinder Kumar, Akhil Sharma, Nazir Ahmed Moulvi, Subhash Chander Bhanu Partpa Singh and other trade union leaders were leading the large protest.
The protesting workers were shouting slogans in support of their pending demands. They were carrying banners and placards with them, depicting demands. They were strongly demanding implementation of 7th Pay Commission report in the State, regularization of over 60,000 temporary workers, framing of definite policy of regularization, release of wages of many workers pending for the last about 35-40 months, enhancement of Medical allowance, honorarium of Anganwadi Workers and helpers etc. They held day long there at the venue.
Several Union leaders including Gafoor Dar addressed the rally. They strongly criticized the Government for making false claims. They said despite assurance by the Finance Minister on the floor of the House the workers were not regularised and even the 7th Pay Commission report was not implemented.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr MK Bhandari. Prominent among those accompanied included Puneet Sharma, Rajan Sharma, Rajinder Kumar, Vikramjit Singh, Karan Singh and N A Molvi.
