Emotion of love

Sir,
This has reference to the writeup ‘Love is your very existence’ by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (DE, Feb14, 2017).The topic of love has been, perhaps, the most debated topic for centuries and much has been written on the theme of love.It has been the dominant theme of many films, plays, stories etc.But it is very difficult to define true love.It is a kind of feeling that one has for others, which is not bound by human behaviour such as jealousy, reciprocity etc.True love, I think, is subtle, silent and delicate. It is a divine emotion and powerful force and sublime feeling which cannot be bought or sold. It can only be experienced naturally. It originates in the mind and does not come with conditions.True love, in fact, is selfless and spontaneous and a true lover sacrifices everything for those whom he loves in order to see them happy without demanding anything in return from them and unmindful of the fact whether the others realize it or not.
Love cannot be imprisoned; it radiates independently. When we try to imprison it, it enslaves us. Love is also  a passionate commitment towards the other, which, though powerful, cannot be forced. It is a sweet sunshine after heavy rainfall. It is the basis of all life in the universe. Nobody is free from this emotion.Even the fiercest animals and predators have this emotion inherent in them, which makes them save their young ones at the cost of their life. One cannot make someone love one, nor can one prevent it for any amount of money or power.
Love is not a substance or commodity  to be traded; It is  a sublime feeling for the other, which transcends territories or barriers.Real love is compassionate, patient and kind and does not hurt.If it hurts , it is something else and not real love.True love also does  not disrespect and dehumanize others.True love cannot be reserved for one person; to love fully is to love all.Last but not least, true love takes time to bloom; Love at first sight is only infatuation and not love.
Yours etc….
Ashok Sharma,
Udhampur
