EJAC leaders except Wani released

Srinagar, Nov 3: Police today released six Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) leaders from Kupwara sub-jail but its president Abdul Qayoom Wani continues to be in confinement.
The leaders were arrested on October 22 and were shifted to Kupwara and Baramulla sub-jails. The police had earlier detained EJAC president, Qayoom Wani, spokesperson, Farooq Trail and other leaders including Fayaz Shabnum, Manzoor Ahmad Langoo, Tariq Ahmad Sofi, Wajahat Durani, Fayaz Shabnum, Latief Ahmad, Aijaz Ahmad Khan and Sajad Ahmad Parray.
The leaders were detained ahead of their scheduled meeting proposed to chalk out future strategy against action on the Government’s move to sack employees for participating in anti-Government protests. Besides, sacking of employees, the EJAC president, Abdul Qayoom Wani was suspended from his duties on October 22. The orders in this regard were passed by the Commissioner Secretary School Education Department, Shalin Kabra.
