Eight drug peddlers held in Valley

Srinagar, Mar 18: Police today said it have arrested eight drug peddlers from different areas of Kashmir Valley.
A police spokesman said on a tip off, a police in Ganderbal district arrested four drug peddlers including three non-locals and recovered 13 kilograms of cannabis and 155 tablets prescription drugs on their instance.
“During the preliminary investigation, it surfaced that they were supplying these contrabands to youth of the area,” he said. The spokesman said police have registered cases under FIR numbers 44&45/2017 under section 8/20, 8/21 against these peddlers and further investigation has been taken up.
The spokesman further said that police laid a checkpoint near FM Gali on KP Road in Anantnag district. “During the checking, police apprehended two drug peddlers identified as Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh and Gowher Ahmed Wani. Police recovered 176 tablets prescription drugs,” he said.
The police spokesman said a case under FIR number 36/2017 under section 21/22 NDPS has been registered against these drug peddlers and further investigation has been taken up. He said acting on specific information, the police apprehended two notorious drug peddlers identified as Mudasir Ramzan Ganaie Mushtaq Ahmad Dar at Pattan town of Baramulla district.
“Police recovered two and half kilograms of Fukki powder. They were distributing this contraband among the youth of the area. Police have registered a case FIR number 43/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act against these peddlers and further investigation has been taken,” he added.
