Congregations, processions mark religious festivity

JAMMU, Nov 21: Holding of Seerat-un-Nabi conferences, taking out religious processions and holding other religious programmes marked the celebrations of Eid- Milad -un-Nabi the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed across Jammu region today.

Besides Jammu the religious programmes were held at Kathua, Doda, Bhadarwah, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch, Mendhar, Ramban and other towns of the region in which a large number of Muslim community members participated.
A religious procession was also taken out by the members of Muslim community in the city which passed through various markets and B C road. With Islamic banners in their hands the processionists were raising pro-Islamic slogans. The authorities had made elaborate security arrangements enroute the procession.
On the occasion, a Serat -un-Nabi Conference was organized by Anjuman Islah-ul-Muslimeen at Eidgah Residency Road, Jammu in which a large number of devout Muslims drawn from different parts of Jammu participated.
The programme was of three sessions, the morning session, afternoon session and the evening session.
The first session was presided over by Moulana Rehmatullah Mir Qasmi, Mohitmim Darul-Uloom Rehmia. The key note address was made by Dr Mohammed Ahmed Burney. This session concluded with a prayer for global peace. Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister and Gulchain Singh Charak former Minister also graced the occasion. NC provincial president and MLA, Devender Singh Rana and BJP MLA , Rajesh Gupta were also present on the occasion. They expressed their gratitude to organizers of the programme saying such programmes are for betterment of mankind.
The programme started with recitation of holy Quran by AbdulHakeem followed by Naat by Dr Mohamed Ahmed Burney. He also delivered the key note address and made a thought provoking discourse on the teachings and life of Prophet Mohammad. He said the life Prophet gives us the lesson to adopt Islam in real and practical sense.
He said Islam stands for quality and not for quantity.
He, while highlighting the character of Muslim in the light of message of Prophet Mohammad said that to sacrifice of self interest for collective interest is the teaching of Islam by Prophet. He exhorted the audience to reflect unity in their thought and action and if this unity is achieved, our purpose to hold such conferences would be achieved.
The presidential address was delivered by Maulana Rehmatula Mir Qasmi who said that this is the high time when the multifarious aspects of the life of Prophet Mohammad are required to be highlighted.
He said the global scenario reflects desperation, helplessness, hatred and compartmentalization in the comity of nations. He further said that the Prophet of Islam came with the message to bring peace, love and affection amongst the human beings and to establish their relationship with their creator. Once the human being is able to establish his relationship with his creator, the world scenario would change, he added.
In the second session Maulana Shehnaz Anwari delivered his key note address. He highlighted how the Prophet of Islam brought a sea change in the entire gamut of human life. The session concluded with prayers for peace in the world and the State.
In the last session the key note address was made by Swami Laxmi Shanker Achariya who threw light on the life of the Prophet and the great impact which Islam has made on human civilization.
Maulana Lal Din Hamidi delivered key note address on human civilization condition of Arab society and the positive change brought by Islam. The proceedings were conducted by H A Siddiqui, advocate.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated at Kathua town also. The members of Muslim community assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and raised the pro Nabi slogans and recalled the teachings of holy Quran and Prophet of Islam. The religious discourses were given by Haji Faqir Hussian Qazi. Later a religious process was taken towards Eidgah, Kathua.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated with full religious fervor, gaiety and enthusiasm in erstwhile Doda district today. On the occasion several programmes including recitation of Quran, Dars-e-Quraan, Dars-e-Hadees and Naat Khawani were held throughout Chenab Valley.
To celebrate the auspicious day the people gathered in their respective mosques and participated in the religious congregations and processions.
At Bhadarwah, the main function was held under the chairmanship of President Anjuman-e-Islamia Bhadarwah Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh at historical Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah in which large number of devotees participated.
At Kishtwar a grand religious congregation on the occasion of Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi was held at Jamia Masjid Kishtwar.
A religious procession was also taken later which started from Jamia Masjid and after passing through various markets including Faridiya Chowk, Darbar-e-Asrariya, it culminated at Astaan-e-Bala.
Similar programmes were also held at Sartingal, Ramban Batote, Gool, Sangaldaan, Gandoh, Doda, Assar, Bhalla and other parts of erstwhile Doda district.
Grand religious progremmes were held in Poonch and Rajouri towns on the occasion of Eid-Milad -un-Nabi today.
In Mendhar, Poonch a religious procession was taken out in which a large number of Muslims drawn from different parts of the town and rural areas participated. Besides, the religious procession an Eid-Namaz was also performed by the members of Muslim community.
Eid Mailad -un -Nabi was also celebrated at Kotranka with great zeal and enthusiasm. Hundreds of people gathered at Eidgah Kotranka where Mufti Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din addressed gathering and threw light on teachings of Islam and Prophet Mohammed.
