Educational institutions celebrate Independence Day, Janam Ashtami

JAMMU, Aug 11: Various educational institutions celebrated 70th Independence Day and Janam Ashtami.
GD Goenka Public School Jammu celebrated the spirit of Independence by organising an Inter House Patriotic Group Song Competition for classes VI-X. The competition was judged by Emanuel Sidhu, a renowned musician. For the first position, it was Teresa House and Radha Krishnan House followed by Vivekananda and Tagore at second and third position respectively. Janam Ashtmi, the birth of Lord Krishna was also celebrated in the school premises, wherein the primary section students enacted various phases of Lord Krishna’s life. The students dressed as Radha-Krishna mesmerised the audience with their dances. It was the ‘Matki phor’ session, which won the hearts of the audience, who cheered for the participants. Principal of the school Rajesh Rathore addressed the students and staff members.
DPS Jammu organized a special assembly to celebrate festival of Janam Ashtami. The assembly began with the school prayer followed by a mesmerizing song by the school choir depicting the different childhood stages of Lord Krishna. The students also presented a foot tapping dance performance which depicted the teenage life of Lord Krishna with Gopis. While addressing the assembly, Principal DPS Jammu Ruchi Chabra enlightened the students about the life of Lord Krishna and motivated them to be like Krishna and Sudama. Headmistress Meenu Gupta motivated the students to follow the right path always. The assembly was anchored by Kritika of Class VIII-A and Arshiya of Class VIII-B while the vote of thanks was presented by Anchal Gupta.
70th Independence Day was celebrated with pomp and show at MHAC School campus. The day was marked with a number of celebrations at KG wing, Primary, Middle and Senior sections. Students presented dance items and patriotic songs. Principal Sween Puri threw light on the importance of the day.
Maharaja Harisingh DAV Centenary Public School Akhnoor organized various competitions to commemorate Janam Ashtmi under the supervisions of CCA Incharges. Students of classes I and II participated in flute decoration competition in which Gulab Singh and Pratham Sharma got first position, Akashi Sharma and Niharika bagged second position and Vishali Bhagat and Ruchita clinched third position. Students of classes III and IV participated in crown decoration competition in which Sourav Sharma and Abhimanyu bagged first position, Babli Langeh and Krishika Sharma got second position and Himanshu and Samarth Dev Singh clinched third position. The students of classes V and VI participated in kite making competition in which Navya Verma and Aashiya got first position, Sourav Sharma and Rajvansh Sharma got second position and Anjali Devi and Sneha Sharma got third position. Students of classes VII to X participated in jhula making competition in which Pratap House got first position, Ranbir House bagged second position and Gulab House got third position. Principal of the school Alok Betab along with other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. In his address, Principal emphasized to raise the spirit of participation in competition and encouraged the students to be confident, gain experience, show case skills, analyze and uncover personal aptitude for achieving greater things in life.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua celebrated Janam Ashtami. Students came dressed in Krishna and Radha outfits. They wore peacock head gears and decorated Matkis and flutes. Students of pre-nursery class recited poems, in which Varinda Sharma secured first position, Harshita secured second position, Eklavya and Aarush Soodan shared third position. Students of 1st to 9th class also took part in various activities like dance, music, speech narration, jhoola making and matki decoration. School Principal Shuchita Gupta enlightened the students about the importance of Janam Ashtami.
SOS Hermann Gmeiner School celebrated Independence Day and Janam Ashtami. The students participated in a variety of programs including dance, speeches songs etc. The students were dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha. Aarti and nhajans were recited and songs related to Janam Ashtami and Independence Day were played. Principal RK Dhar and the Programme Coordinator Sangita Mattoo were also present on the occasion.
SD Tara Puri Public School, Gandhi Nagar organized a fancy dress competition to celebrate Independence Day under the banner of Youth Talent Search Forum. Students from various institutions participated in the competition. ID Soni, Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dr Jugal K Puri, Associate Prof, BEd College and Esther William, Principal, Alexander Memorial School were also present on the occasion. Kridhi Thakur and Shaurya Pratap Singh of Lawrence Public School stood first, while the second position was shared by Manya Gupta of New Era Environmental School, Himakshi and Keerat Kour of JK Montessori, Ashmita Sharma of JK Police Public School secured third position. Principal Neeru Puri and Jyoti Sharma were also present.
Prep Wing of MV International School organized a cultural fiesta to celebrate Janam Ashtami. Children dressed up as Krishna, Radha and Gopiyan enticed the auditions by their mesmerizing chanting of bhajans, dance items, and ramp walk. Hira Lal Abrol, Chairperson and Savita Abrol, Vice chairperson were the guests of the day. In his address, Chairman highlighted importance of Janam Ashtami celebration. In the end, KL Dogra Principal MV International School presented the vote of thanks.
Students of British International School celebrated Janam Ashtami. Chairperson of the school Gita Sharma was the chief guest. The students of class-1 presented a fusion dance as part of Janam Ashtami celebration. Dressed in attire of Krishna and Gopikas, they spread the message of ancient Puraman and on traditional customs trough pranks of Lord Krishna. Students also participated in bansuri, matki and mask making competitions.
DRS Kids celebrated Independence Day and Janam Ashtami in its branches at Trikuta Nagar and Vasant Vihar. On the occasion, students presented dance items, enacted as heroes of India and break the dahi handi. Principal and Master Franchisee of DRS Kida Supinder Kaur hoisted the National Flag and apprised the students about the importance of Independence Day and Janam Ashtami.
In order to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna and Independence Day, a function was organized in Bachpan Wing of Tiny Scholars School Kathua. All children came in traditional dresses. Some boys came dressed as ‘Krishna’ and some girls came dressed as ‘Radha’. Some of them became Devki, Vasudev, Yashoda and Kans, while some performed roles of Indian freedom fighters. School Principal Manisha Gupta apprised the students about the importance of Independence Day and Janam Ashtami.
