Educational institutions celebrate festival of lights

page13-2JAMMU, Oct 20: Various educational institutions across the State celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, with great enthusiasm and religious fervor.
Chenab College of Education organized a function in its college premises to celebrate Diwali. The college premises was decorated with lights, candles, earthen lamps and beautiful rangolis. The students along with teachers worshipped Goddess Lakshmi. The students actively participated in the programme and enjoyed the occasion with full bonaza. The principal of the college, Kamalddep Kour wished everyone a happy diwali.
GD Goenka Public School, Jammu, celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm and religious fervour. Students presented a Kaleidoscope of items. A skit was presented on the slogan ‘say No to crackers and celebrating Eco-friendly Diwali’. The highlight of the programme was the mythological aspect from Ramayana depicting ‘Ashok Vaatika’ scene. The students of Kindergarten also enacted few scenes from Ramayana. The principal, Dr RP Singh appreciated the performances of the students and wished everyone a happy and a safe Diwali.
To celebrate Diwali, JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School organized “Bhajan Sandhya Programme” at Jammu Club with a spirit of festivity and merriment. The function commenced with lightning of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, Mandhvi Sharma which was followed by “Saraswati Vandana “by the students. Children presented a commendable cultural and traditional extravaganza and enthralled the audience with their performances. The chief guest appreciated the spirit of all students and the hard work put in by the faculty members for organizing an impressive programme.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu celebrated Diwali Festival by organizing a Rangoli and Candle decoration competition in the school premises. Managing Director, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak and principal, Davinder Kour, spoke on the occasion and wished happy and safe Diwali to all students. First, 2nd and 3rd prizes were given to Partap House, Subash House and Gandhi House, respectively. Students decorated the school beautifully with flowers and buntings.
With the gleam of diyas, the students of Rich Harvest School had a sparkling Diwali celebration. Students came dressed in colourful traditional dresses and decorated the school with flowers and candles. A special programme was organized to educate children about the significance of this festival. Students also presented devotional songs and shimmering dance. Students also enjoyed fun activities like Diwali card making, Diya decorating and Rangoli making competition. Ruchi, Charak, Trustee of the school, appreciated the endeavour of the students and encouraged them to celebrate every festival with the same spirit and enthusiasm.
Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib conducted an Inter- House Rangoli Competition on the eve of Diwali. Using eco-friendly colours, the students prepared colourful rangolis on the theme ‘Diwali’. The four houses of the school — Courage House, Joy House, Peace House, Wisdom House competed with each other out of which Wisdom House stood 1st, Courage House 2nd and Joy House 3rd. Principal, Satvinder Saini and vice principal, Rama Jamwal congratulated the winner students for such a brilliant display of their talent.
Little Flower Higher Secondary School celebrated Diwali with great fun and joy. Students of class 6th enacted scenes from the great epic ‘The Ramayana’. They enacted Lord Ramaji’s return to Ayodhya, his coronation and lighting of Diyas. Students also burst crackers and lighted diyas in the school premises.
Principal, Meera Soni wished one and all a very happy Diwali.
Adarsh Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Resham Ghar, Jammu today celebrated Diwali inside the school premises. Students of all the classes decorated their class-rooms with buntings and candles. The Principal of the school, PB Kapoor, went to each and every class-room and did Diwali Pooja with the teachers and students of the respective classes. A joint Diwali Pooja was performed at the main compound of the school. Students presented various cultural items on the occasion. The crackers were also fired under the supervision of the staff. The function closed with distribution of gifts and refreshment to every student.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School celebrated Diwali with great pomp and show in its school premises. The students lightened diyas and candles and decorated their class-rooms. A Rangoli competition was also organized on the occasion. Chairperson of the school, Santosh Mahajan, wished everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali and advised the students to celebrate smokeless Diwali. In the end, sweets were distributed among the students.
As the Diwali is approaching, the students of Apple Kids International Pre-school, Bantalab and Sprawling Buds School today took pledge to curb the bursting of noisy and air polluting fire crackers during Diwali. Various competitions like Diya making, Door hanging making and Rangoli making competition of senior students was held. The students from kindergarten wing were involved in Rangoli making and Card making activity. A Candle making competition of Junior KG students was held. The winners were awarded by the principal, Puja Sharma.
Diwali was also celebrated by the students of Balniketan Ashram, Amphalla. The programme was organized by French Club. The students offered prayers to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. A painting competition was also organized and the winners were awarded. The students also presented group songs, group dances and poems. The Strings, a Spanish guitar institute also gave mesmerized performances by playing numerous songs on guitars.
Euro Care, Jammu, today organized Diwali fair in its school premises. The function was attended by students, their parents, grandparents and staff of the school. The function started with the lighting of traditional lamp by Minister for Housing, Raman Bhalla and Saundari Yadav, wife of Rajesh Yadav, IGP Jammu followed by lightning diyas, chanting mantras and performing the rituals of Diwali Pujan by the parents of the students. Various games and sports competitions were also organised for kids and their parents. The most important event of the function was a lucky draw.
Luthra Public School organized a Rangoli and a painting competition on the occasion of Diwali. The winners were awarded with suitable prizes by the principal of the school, who also wished them a happy and prosperous Diwali.
The festival of lights was also celebrated in Vardhman Bal Vatika, a pre-school. A special assembly was organized on the occasion in which the students and teachers performed Aarti and Pooja of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. Speaking on the occasion, principal of the school advised the kids not to buy and burst crackers, which causes air and noise pollution.
A programme regarding Diwali festival was also organized in primary school, Vijaypur Camp, by chairman, New Young Blood Organization, Jammu, Ashok Verma. The students as well as teachers participated in the programme with great enthusiasm. The fruits and sweets were distributed among the children by Ashok Verma, who while speaking advised all to come forward for blood donation to save precious lives.
