Educational institutions celebrate birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, Baisakhi festival

JAMMU, Apr 12: Various educational institutions celebrated the 126th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar and festival of harvest ‘Baisakhi’ with zeal and enthusiasm.
NSS Units of Government Degree College Udhampur organized a programme in which staff members and students paid floral tribute to Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. NSS Programme Officers and NSS volunteers namely Pardeep Kumar and Abdul Aziz expressed their views. Besides Dr Udhey Bhanu and Prof Suresh Kr Dogra, NSS Programme Officers Prof Raj Kumar, Prof Romesh Kr Atri, Prof Kamal Kishore, Dr Romesh Sachdeva, Prof Rohit Bamotra and other faculty members were also present.
GD Goenka Public School celebrated Baisakhi festival with joy, enthusiasm and fanfare. A special morning assembly was held for the students of Middle and Senior School wherein the students explained the importance of this festival. Later, the students presented cultural items including traditional Punjabi folk dance ‘Gidda’ and group song. Principal of the school, Rajesh Rathore was also present.
DPS Nagbani celebrated Baisakhi festival with enthusiasm. The students performed various dance items. Some students and teachers also expressed their views on the importance of Baisakhi festival. Some students recited poems highlighting the significance of the Baisakhi. A folk dance on the foot tapping beats of the dhol was also presented by the students. Meanwhile, rich tributes were also paid to Dr BR Ambedkar by the students. Principal of the school RK Verma threw light on the auspicious day of Baisakhi festival.
A special assembly was conducted at KC International School on the occasion of Baisakhi, Dr Ambedkar Jayanti and Good Friday. A tableau was presented by the students showcasing the Baisakhi celebrations. The school choir sang a melodious song. A talk was presented to mark the importance of these occasions. A wonderful foot throbbing dance of bhangra was the highlights of the show. Principal Maya Mishra threw light on the importance of these occasions.
Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib celebrated Baisakhi with great zeal and enthusiasm. The students of pre-primary and primary wing were dressed in colourful Punjabi attire. A special assembly was organised where the students were told about the importance of Baisakhi by Satvinder Saini, Director, Stephens International Public School. Students also performed bhangra and sung Punjabi folk songs. Others present on the occasion were Amarjeet Singh, Vice Chairman and Vikesh Sandhal, Vice Principal.
On the occasion of Baisakhi Holy Montessori Guru Harkrishan Public School celebrated the religious function in Digiana Ashram where Shabad Kirtan, lectures and poems were recited. Students of Holy Montessori presented cultural programme. Rita Popli, Principal encouraged the students to participate in extra co-curricular activities.
Bhartiya Shiksha Kender High School, Domana celebrated Baisakhi. Students of class 4th and 5th presented a skit namely ‘vaisakh ki vaisakhi’ and children from oasis (pre nursery) to 10th presented a colourful bhangra with their class teachers on the beats of dhol. Principal Sandhya Raj Pathania apprised the students about the importance of the festival. Rajinder Singh, Chairman of the school was guest of honour. The event was co-ordinated by CCA Co-ordinator Barkha Thakur and assisted by Sahil Singh Sambyal, Sports Incharge.
The students and the staff of Spring blossoms Public School celebrated birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar and Baisakhi festival. Floral tribute was paid to the father of the Indian constitution Dr Ambedkar. The celebration began with a group song followed by a speech explaining the significance of the day. Principal Divya Gupta in her speech emphasized on the significance of Dr Ambedkar Day and Baisakhi festival.
Baisakhi festival was celebrated at Sarvodhya Public School, Poni Chack. Many cultural activities were performed by the students. Chairman of the school was the chief guest and Principal Shashi Rattan presided over the function. The whole programme was hosted by Gulshan Rattan.
Modern Montessori International (MMI)–a pre school at Trikuta Nagar celebrated the festival of harvest ‘Baisakhi’ with traditional fervour and zeal. The tiny toddlers attired in colourful Punjabi costumes presented took part in various activities. On the occasion, the teachers apprised the toddlers about the importance of Baisakhi festival.
Baisakhi was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at Doon International School. The students presented a colourful cultural programme including ‘Shabd’ by Jaideep Singh of class 9, Punjabi folk songs Bhangra, Gidda and dance items. Chairman GN Tantray, Principal Vikesh Kaur and Vice Principal Mamta Chopra were also present on the occasion.
OLA Kids School Deoli, Bishnah celebrated Baisakhi with great enthusiasm. Principal Deepika along with staff and students visited Gurdwara. Students attired in Punjabi costumes presented energetic cultural programme.
KIDZEE celebrated Baisakhi at its Anand Nagar Bohri, Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Trikuta Nagar branches with great enthusiasm and joy. A special assembly was conducted in which the toddlers actively participated and danced on the dhol beats. The facilitators also gave demonstration regarding this special occasion to the kids.
Mount Litera Zee School (MLZS) celebrated Baisakhi festival in the presence of Er Parneesh Mahajan, Chairman, NSM Group of Schools and Colleges and MLZS Jammu. On the occasion, a special assembly was conducted in which the toddlers actively participated and danced on dhol beats. The facilitators briefed the students about the Baisakhi festival. The toddlers were dressed up in different colourful costumes depicting the value of motive behind celebrations.
Stepping Stone School Bari-Brahmana celebrated Baisakhi festival. A colourful cultural program was presented by the students. The students also learn about the process of harvesting. Principal of the school Anjali Sharma threw light on the importance of the day. Director Vikash Kumar Sharma was also present on the occasion.
