Education Zone at Sudhmahadev

Sir,
During the year 2005, a feasibility report was prepared by Education Department for the bi-furcation of Education Zone Chenani for creation of separate Zone at Sudhmahadev. Pertinent to mention that Education Zone Chenani is the largest Zone in J&K State with plus two hundred schools. For one officer the inspection and supervision of such large number of hilly area schools was difficult. As per workable criteria each Zone should have fifty to sixty schools under its jurisdiction for effective administrative inspection, supervision and Student – Teacher welfare leading to success in pedagogical set-up. The expert Committee headed by ZEPO Chenani conducted detailed study in the field and it was felt that Chenani qualifies for the creation of three zones in Education Sector one each at Chenani, Sudhmahadev and Tandhar. On the basis of field input the District level Committee finally approved the division of Chenani zone into two zones one each at Chenani and Sudhmahadev. Detailed bi-furcation plan alongwith the map of two zones was prepared showing villagewise and Panchayat wise location and number of schools in each zone. The case file was sent to Administrative Department for sanction through proper channel. There after all the MLA’s of Chenani raised the issue in State Assembly discussion. The case was also approved in various meetings of District Dev. Board Udhampur on year to year basis. The minutes of meetings of DDB Udhampur were sent to Government for sanction of Education Zone at Sudhmahadev. Each year same formality is repeated.
It is sorry state of affairs that inspite of so many recommendations this genuine case of Education Sector could not get the sanction of the Government till date. The inspection and supervision component is suffering badly.
The present State Government and SAC is requested to grant sanction for the creation of Education Zone at Sudhmahadev in the overall interest of improvement of pedagogical set-up leading to Student welfare in this educationally backward area.
