Education key to sustainable change in society: Kavinder

JAMMU, Feb 23: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said that Government has initiated various measures to deliver an education system which contributes to economic and social development within the region and can build lasting sustainable change through informed engagement and empowerment of all stakeholders.
The Speaker said this during the launch of construction work for an examination hall to be constructed at Government Girls High School Bhour Camp, Jammu here today,
The examination hall is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh by the PWD (R&B) under CAPEX Elementary School Education budget. The hall once completed, will be able to accommodate over 150 students.
While speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that higher education institutions play a pivotal role and have a responsibility towards creating sustainable societies that leads to mutual benefit and accelerated positive effect, breakthrough towards an economically secure, ecologically stable and socially empowered future.
With focused efforts of the present Government towards development of higher education infrastructure both at school level and college level in rural areas, it would permit our educational institutions to focus on teaching of the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the continued growth and revitalization of community, the Speaker said.
He added that this would also put a check on continuing exodus of young middle school, high school graduates from the rural areas leading to severe rural depopulation that strips the community of next generation of entrepreneurs, managers and workers.
The Speaker also inspected the existing infrastructure available to the students of the institution. He was apprised that a building and the toilet complex at school need major repairs.
The Speaker passed immediate instructions to the concerned officials to take measures to undertake necessary repairs and renovation at the institution.
