JAMMU, Nov 17: The Excise Department Jammu has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of the J&K Excise Act in entire Jammu division. Under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Mohammed Shahid Saleem, the Excise Team Kathua under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and Excise and Taxation Officer, Eradication & Enforc-ement Wing Jammu, Suresh Sharma raided the Chibachak and Jakhbardabra areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process, more than 1050 kilo grams of Lahan, 35 bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly injurious to health was recovered. The raiding team also recovered a working still from State land which was later destroyed by the team on spot.
