DyCM reviews functioning of PDD, H&UDD at Reasi

Reasi, Sept 16: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today held a meeting with the officers of PDD, Housing and Urban Development Department to review their functioning.
Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Inform-ation Technology and Labour and Employment Ajay Nanda was also present in the meeting.
Deputy CM directed the   Power Development Dep-artment to upgrade the existing power infrastructure in the district and ensure that the Power Grid Station at Reasi is made functional to augment power supply in the area.
He also stressed on ensuring that the projects being implemented in the power sector are completed within the stipulated time frame and asked the concerned officers to regularly monitor the works on grounds so that set targets are optimally achieved.
The Deputy CM asked the concerned authorities to organize camps to raise massive awareness among people regarding Ujala and Power Amnesty Schemes.
Responding to the issues raised by the members of civil society present in the meeting, Dr.Singh said that the present Government is committed to provide improved  basic amenities to the people and concerted efforts are  underway to improve and upgrade the existing infrastructure of PDD.
Dr Singh asked Director, Local Bodies to expedite the process of recruitment of various posts lying vacant with MC. He asked the authorities to prepare DPR for New Community Hall including an Auditorium which would come up on self financed mode. He also asked for constructing an arc gate at the entrance of Reasi town to  present a good view to the tourists .
He also asked to explore the feasibility of setting up Solid Waste Management Project besides identification of land for Multi Tier Parking and expansion of Bus Stand in Reasi town.
While apprising about the functioning of Municipal committee Reasi  Director, Local Bodies Soujanya Sharma apprised the Deputy Chief Minister of the status of various development works being executed by the committee. It was informed that Rs 483.49 lakh have been spent on various development works under IHSDP scheme till the month of August 2016.
Detailed discussions were   also held on various issues like shifting of Rehris to suitable place to avoid traffic congestion, widening of roads, creation of parking areas, renovation of various lanes and drains etc.
Regarding the creation of parking areas and shifting of Rehris (street vendors), Dr. Singh directed the concerned to take immediate steps in this regard and asked the CEO MC to ensure that quality services are provided to the people of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Kumar, Director Urban Local Bodies Soujanya Sharma, Executive Engineer PDD, CPO Reasi, CEO Municipal Committee and other district officers besides prominent citizens were also  present in the meeting.
