DyCM reviews Amarnath Yatra arrangements

GANDERBAL, June 28: Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Kumar Singh, today visited the 105 MW Upper Sindh Hydropower Project – II at Kangan to take stock of its functioning.
District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz and Chief Engineer Generation wing of State Power Development Corporation, Mohammad Muzaffar Matto accompanied the Dy Chief Minister.
Chief Engineer apprised the Deputy Chief Minister about the functioning of various electromechanical components of the Power House. Deputy CM was also informed that all the three units are operational and can generate power as per full capacity of 105MW subject to the availability of water.
The Deputy CM also visited Sumbal and Wanghat link canals and reviewed the work of a tunnel and a spillway there. He instructed the engineers to ensure completion of both the works by the end of September 2015.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the base camp for Amarnath Yatra at Police Training School Manigam and took stock of the arrangements made by district administration for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra which will be commencing from 2 July 2015.
He went around the base camp and was apprised about the arrangements made by the concerned departments. He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements that have been put in place by the district administration. However, he instructed the officers to put in further efforts and ensure comfortable pilgrimage for all those who visit Shri Amarnathji Shrine this year.
