JAMMU, June 24: Training guns at the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Pradesh Congress leadership today alleged that DyCM was trying to befool and mislead the people of this country and the J&K State.
In a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma and attended by vice-president Raman Bhalla, general secretaries- Manjit Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh and Namrata Sharma, took a serious note of the misleading Statement of Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, wherein he accused Congress party of opposing the GST Bill.
The leaders said that what could be a bigger travesty of truth when BJP is the ruling party of the State is not able to implement the “One Nation one Tax” slogan of implementing GST and instead accused congress party. They said it was under the able leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Ji, the GST was conceptualized and Congress ruled States like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and other States have already implemented the GST and the Congress party in the State is also strongly in favour of implementing the GST at the earliest.
The leaders accused the BJP of playing second fiddle to PDP and it is facing an embracing situation in the country and particularly in the State that even after calling a special session of the constituent assembly they were not able to even place the legislation in the house and after passing obituary reference the house was adjourned sine-die.
The leaders noted that the Govt had no intention of passing the GST, because they did not make enough and necessary preparations to pass the GST legislation, as they did not reach out to the opposition parties before calling the special session of the assembly. If the ruling party was serious about the issue, they would have deliberated with all the opposition parties and arrived at a consensus by educating and informing them about the dire need of the GST implementation in the interest of the State and Nation.
The Congress leaders further added that the trader and business community of the State is worried and pall of uncertainty and insecurity has descended over the State. The BJP by their silence over the issue has misled and cheated its electorates.
