Dy Chairman LC seeks Madrassa Board for J&K

SRINAGAR, July 31: A deputation of legislators and prominent citizens led by Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir called on Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar here today demanding establishment of Madrassa Board in the State.
The delegation included MLA Rajouri, Advocate Choudhary Qamer Hussain, former Director School Education, Gulzar Ahmad Qureshi and Assistant Professor University of Kashmir, Dr Jahangir Iqbal Tantray.
The Deputy Chairman informed the Minister that States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Assam have already established Madrassa Boards and some states have even recognized the Madrassa education at par with the formal education.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that tangible steps will be taken for establishment of Madrassa Board in the State.
