DSS urges Govt to address issues raised by Dogra women

JAMMU, Feb 2: Dogra Sadar Sabha  executive body has endorsed  the resolutions unanimously passed  by the distinguished women of the Dogra region and urged the Government to address the issues, which are causing strong resentment among Jammu people.
Talking to media persons, here today, Th  Gulchain Singh Charak,  former Minister and president Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) drew attention of the Government towards these resolutions for speeding up restoration work of the Mubarak Mandi heritage complex, removing barricades from the road in front of Civil Secretariat,  thorough probe for exemplary punishment to the guilty in brutal murder of 8-year old girl at Hiranagar and special drive against drug menace. “The members expressed strong resentment against slow pace of restoration work of the Mubarak Mandi heritage complex and  shifting of the precious records of Archives in an unsafe building,” he said and  added that barricading of the road in front of Civil Secretariat did  cause lot of hardships to the daily commuters, school going children, in evacuation of the sick to SMGS Hospital,  women visiting Zanana Park and  funeral processions towards  Jogi Gate,  besides hampering tourism of historical sites in winters.  Charak also conveyed anguish of the women members over the heinous crime committed at Hiranagar in Kathua where a minor girl was detained, raped and then murdered.
Charak also informed that the executive body has officially released the DSS logo that shall represent this 114 years old secular organization of the State.  “The main features of the logo are the rising sun depicting hope, progress, enlightenment, warmth and positive development. It shows the Trikuta Hills as symbolic to the region and the three populations of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,  which have now settled here  homogeneously as a cosmopolitan society, without any discrimination or discord within them, ” the DSS president explained. The logo also shows a lion as symbol of strength and valour, while the base comprises of two swords, a traditional sign of soldiering that has been historically the main occupation of Dogras earning laurels in establishing the J&K State.
Others,  present in the press conference, included  Prem Sagar Gupta, Col Karan Singh Jamwal , G A  Khawaja, Brig M S  Jamwal, Col Virendra K Sahi, Syed Amanat Ali Shah, Karan Singh and Santosh Mangotra.
