DSS raises demands, sends memorandum to Governor

JAMMU, July 10: Welcoming Governor rule in Jammu and Kashmir, Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) here today expressed hope that this may pull the State out from the alleged lawlessness, non-governance, corruption and growing menace of terrorism and anti-national activities.
In a memorandum to the Governor, DSS stated that top priority for the State should be to establish peace and the rule of the law in Kashmir valley by crushing terror mongers so that the common man feels safe.
In memorandum, DSS President, Gulchain Singh demanded re-establishing of climate conducive for an effective democratic set up fair for all the regions.
“Closely connected with it is to revive the grass root level democratic civic bodies by holding Panchayat elections. The development projects and revival of tourism can only be possible thereafter,” the memorandum further stated.
Other issues mentioned in the memorandum included-the practise of blocking road in front of winter secretariat every year should be stopped, restoration of Mubarak Mandi and retrieving of archives files back from Kala Kendra should be done and revival of institutes of Chowkidars and Lamberdars which have been eroded and facing multiple problems with lack of support and authority.
Issue of living conditions of border people as they face high risk of death and destruction of their houses, dwellings and standing crops was also there in the memorandum.
