DSS, MHSVM celebrate B’day of Maharaja Hari Singh

JAMMU, Sept 24:  The 122nd birthday of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh was celebrated  at Khour under the aegis of Dogra Sadar Sabha  under the chairmanship of its president  Sukhdev Singh.
Former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak,  president Dogra Sadar Sabha J&K was the chief guest while Dr Krishan Lal MLA Chhamb (Khour), was the guest of honour during the celebration.
In his address Charak admired the Maharaja as a charming and handsome ruler who was bold and remarkable sportsman, who was full of patriotism and responsible for the accession of the J&K State with India. His bold statement in the Round Table Conference in UK was an example of his courageous statesmanship.
Various speakers paying rich tributes to their beloved Maharaja admired him as a great social reformer and a forward looking ruler who encouraged education and was thoroughly secular in his outlook and displayed respect for public participation from all communities and sects of the society.
They also paid rich tributes to Late Capt Gandharab Singh the great Dogra of Pargwal (Akhnoor), Late Capt Devan Singh, the then Secretary of  Maharaja and Faiju Pahalwan for their selfless volunteer services to the Society.
Heartfelt tributes were also paid to the Uri martyrs on the occasion and resolved to stand by our Indian troops and offered salutations to their supreme sacrifices.
Dr  Krishan Lal-  MLA highlighted the various social reforms undertaken by the visionary Maharaja Hari Singh and appealed the public that they should identify a piece of land to construct a Dogra Bhawan at Khour for which he promised to release the requisite funds out of his CPF.
Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, president J&K  Ex- Services League, Prof NK Dogra,   Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja  Col Karan Singh Jamwal (Retd), Brig MS Jamwal and  KP Singh were also persent.
Maharaja Hari Singh Vichar Manch, Sainik Colony Jammu also organised a function and paid floral tributes to Great Maharaja. The function was organised with great enthusiasm by the people from the Colony.
Maj Gen G S Jamwal was the chief guest while Maj Gen Shamsher Singh and Brig Uttam Singh were the guests of honour. A large number of retired Army officers and locals of the area attended the programme held under the chairmanship of B S Jamwal (Adv). Deep Mala was also lit to mark the occasion.
