DSS discusses Purmandal Yatra arrangements with DC Samba

JAMMU, Mar 10: A delegation of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) headed by the president and former minister Th Gulchain Singh Charak held meeting with Deputy Commissioner Samba at district headquarters along with members of Shri Laxmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust and members of the Purmandal/ Utterbehni Shrines Development Committee for the arrangements of the annual Chhari Mubarak Yatra from Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar to Purmandal Shrine on  March 16, 2018.
The Purmandal/Utterbehni Shrines Development Committee discussed the details of help and assistance required from the administration regarding, transport, traffic management, parking, security, water supply and sanitation to include temporary toilets. The arrangements for hoardings, Langar by the Seva Samiti, Bari Brahmana including garbage clearance at the end were also discussed. It was also proposed to ply busses between Purmandal Kaluchak and Uttarbehni to Purmandal to facilitate pilgrims moving to and fro and ensure that no pilgrims stay stranded at the end of the day and during the two days festival there.
Delegates also requested for proper and orderly arrangements to handle the crowd of pilgrims with due consideration to the ladies, children and the senior citizens. The DC , Sheetal Nanda issued on the spot orders to the attending staff of all the concerned departments.
It was also decided to organize  `Swachta Abhiyan’ on Monday March 12, 2018 to clean the holy Devika  and Temples complex at Purmandal in which besides locals, the officials of all the departments shall take part.
President of the DSS Bari Brahmana Chapter,   Swarn Singh Charak presented a memorandum to the DDC, while points raised by all the ward presidents were explained by him. These included repair to the dilapidated lanes and drains, pollution of the main canal passing through the town and its distributaries by inflowing sewage water and industrial waste, clearing dumps of garbage, covering of open stinking nallah near the Rich Harvest School, opening the closed road near the Railway Fatak at Bari Brahmana, arranging kerosene oil for the public.
There were also points regarding replacement of broken, shattered, short electric poles and low hanging HT cables that pose a threat to lives. The traffic congestion and arrangement of traffic lights at SIDCO Chowk to regulate the traffic properly, unauthorized constructions, road space encroachments on the service lanes and traffic chaos at the main Bari Brahmana crossing was discussed in detail.
The DDC appointed TR  Sharma ADC as nodal officer for the arrangements of Holy Chhari Mubarak Yatra.
