DSS appeals MLAs to fight for Jammu cause or resign

JAMMU, May 24: Dogra Sadar Sabha today made an appeal to the Legislators from Jammu region to fight for the Jammu cause and perform on the floor of the J&K Legislature or resign.
In a meeting of the executive body of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held here today under the chairmanship of Gulchain Singh Charak, the members discussed several issues of the interest of Jammu region and also took serious note of the role of MLAs from Jammu region. The Dogra Sabha took a detailed review of the infamous Khour rape issue and decided to press for the demand of penalizing the culprits, the so called protectors of the public who-so-ever they may be, irrespective of their political or other connections by giving them deterrent punishment.
Speaking in the meeting Mr Charak termed the shameful Khour rape case as rarest of rare crime as the perpetrator was none else than the SHO of Khour Police Station, whose prime duty is to prevent the crime in areas under his jurisdiction.
The Sabha took a detailed review of the issue of killing of Chamail Singh in Pakistan jail and noticed with concern that late Chamail Singh has not been given the honour and compensation as has been given to Late Sarabjeet Singh in the similar case by the State and the Central Governments and demanded detailed enquiry into that, besides, giving him the status of martyr and by extending all sort of help to his family.
Dogra Sabha regretted the slow pace of work on restoration/conservation of Mubarak Mandi complex and maintained that there was no visible progress on this project. They also stressed for the proper development and maintenance of Jia Pota complex Akhnoor, the most important heritage of this State.
The issue of establishing a Sainik Colony for the ex-servicemen of J&K was discussed in detail and it was observed that former Defence Personnel of J&K have given much sacrifices in safeguarding our borders in the State and country. The Sabha feels that a Sainik Colony for the Ex-servicemen of J&K must be established in Kashmir valley for which Sabha would strive hard. Sabha also wants that Govt should come clean about its intentions for the establishment of the Colony without any ambiguity.
Sabha vehemently appealed to all the Legislators of the State in general and Jammu province in particular to raise these issues in both the houses of the legislature during the Assembly session starting from May 25, 2016 forcefully and ensure proper action on the same.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included Maj Gen GS Jamwal (Retd), Dr NK Dogra, Col Karan Singh Jamwal, Prem Sagar Gupta, Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja, Brig (Retd) MS Jamwal, Janak Khajuria, KP Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Devender Singh.
