Drug racket busted, 2 arrested

KISHTWAR, Mar 8: Police smashed an inter-district drug racket operating between Kishtwar, Jammu and Srinagar with the arrest of two persons and recovery of huge quantity of drug.
While divulging details to the media, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abrar Chowdhary said that on specific information, a party led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar Inspector Sameer Jillani under the supervision of DySP Operations Kishtwar Nissar Khoja conducted raid in Kuleed area and recovered 940 intoxicant tablets. All these tablets are sedative in nature and the persons arrested use to sell these to the youth and students for addiction against huge payments, he added.
SSP informed that police arrested two persons who have been identified as Shoaib Zargar, son of Ali Mohd Zargar of Faridiya Road Kishtwar and Shewat Kumar, son of Jai Krishan of Zelna Kishtwar.
A case under FIR Number 57/18 under Section 48(A) Excise Act and 3/13 Drugs and Cosmetic Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar against the accused persons and investigation started.
SSP said that police is all out against the drug peddlers and shall not spare anyone in this regard.
He appealed the people to keep a strict watch on the activities of their wards and inform police wherever needed.
