SRINAGAR, Sept 30: Police today said it arrested two drug peddlers from Anantnag and Kupwara Districts of Valley.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific information, police arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Mohammad Yousuf Dar alias Yousuf Joker of Sangam area of Anantnag district from his house. “On his instance 105 kilograms of fukki and raw material of cannabis was recovered,” he said, adding that a case under FIR Number 161/2017 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered and investigation was taken up.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said, acting on specific information, police arrested another notorious drug smuggler namely Farooq Ahmad Dar of Lachipora village of Zachaldara in Handwara area of Kupwara District. “One kilogram of charas was recovered from his possession which was meant to be distributed among the youth of the district. He is considered as main supplier of contraband substances especially in Rajwar and Handwara areas,” he said.
The spokesman said that a case was registered against the accused and investigation taken up. He said that in order to eradicate the menace of drugs, police launched a drive in Khan Sahib in Budgam District and destroyed wild bhung spread on about 10 kanals of land,” he said.
