Drug peddlers arrested

SRINAGAR, July 9: Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered narcotic drugs from his possession in Sopore town of Baramulla district today.
A Police spokesman said that while continuing its drive against drug menace, a special squad of Sopore Police comprising of SHO Police Station Dangiwacha and DO Police Post Watergam headed by DYSP Hqrs Rafiabad apprehended a drug peddler Firdous Ahmad Payer, a resident of Anwar Abad Salkoot Kupwara and recovered 10 bottles of Phosphate Hydrochloride Max Coff-T from his possession.
He said in this regard, a case FIR No. 83/2018 under Section 8/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Dangiwacha. “It is pertinent to mention here that he is a chronic peddler and was selling the drugs to the youth of the area,” he said.
SSP Sopore, Javaid Iqbal has appealed general public to keep strict vigil on the elements who are supplying these narcotic substances to the youth of Sopore.
In the meantime, Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
A Police spokesman said that after acting on specific information about the movement of a drug peddler along with the contraband substance, a Police party from Police Station Boniyar during a Naka near forest check post Boniyar intercepted a person identified as Shahid Qayoom Khan @Sarpanch, a resident of Turkanjan Boniyar and during his search, a small packet of brown sugar weighing about 30/32 grams was recovered from his procession.
He said another drug peddler identified as Burhan Khan, a resident of Gountmulla Sheeri presently residing at Khojbagh Baramulla was apprehended and brown sugar weighing about 30 grams was recovered from his possession.
“Accordingly, two cases with FIR No. 31/2018 and FIR No. 33/2018 were registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigation taken up,” he said.
