Drug peddler held, charas seized

REASI, Feb 16: In its continued drive to eradicate the drug menace, Reasi Police today arrested a drug peddler and seized 520 grams charas from his possession.
The accused was apprehended at Saldi, Bhaga, by a Police team, led by Dr Nikhil Gogna, DySP Hqrs Reasi who along with his PSOs and driver was patrolling on the road. The accused was identified as Kesar son of Beli Ram of Bhaga, who was searched thoroughly and 26 challies of charas (cannabis) were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, a case FIR number 37/2019, U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police station Reasi.
Meanwhile, Police succeeded in apprehending two persons who were smuggling illicit liquor to Katra town while they were on way from Reasi. 215 quarters of Desi whisky, measuring approximately 53 litres 750 ml, were recovered from their possession.
The liquor was packed in 3 sacks, kept in the boot space of Wagon R, bearing registration number JK02AE 8704. Both the accused were later identified as Katar Nath son of Lt Bansi Ram of Ward number 6, Gadhal, Reasi and his brother in law namely Raman Kumar son of Badri Nath of Dalliane, Bhaderwah.
In this regard, a case FIR number 36/2019 under section 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
