REASI, Jan 4: In two separate cases, Police today arrested a bootlegger and a drug peddler besides affecting seizure of illicit liquor as well as Ganja from their possession.
During patrolling duty at Katra, a Police party intercepted the accused drug peddler and recovered 15 small pouches of polythene, containing Ganja, weighing 60 gms, from him.
Police seized the drugs and arrested the accused, identified as Ajay Kumar of UP, presently putting up at Katra and running a scrap store in the town. In this connection, a case FIR No. 07/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Katra for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a bootlegger was held at Salal and 23 pouches of illicit liquor as well as 4 bottles of Rum and whiskey were recovered from him.
A Police party, led by SI Gurvinder Singh, I/C PP Jyotipuram, intercepted the accused and recovered 23 Poly pouches of J&K Excise liquor, two bottles of Rum and two Bottles of Royal Stag whisky from his possession.
The accused, identified as Balwan Singh of Salal, was arrested on the spot while the recovered liquor was seized.
A case FIR No. 01/2017 U/S 48-a J&K Excise Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Reasi.
