Drug peddler arrested with 224.50 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Mar 2: Manwal police arrested a drug peddler and recovered large quantity of 224.50 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle he was driving.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Manwal Police Post laid a naka and intercepted a truck, which was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar.
During checking, police recovered 224.50 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in 23 plastic bags and arrested the driver.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Shabir, son of Mohammad Zaba, a resident of district Kulgam.
A case under FIR Number 14/18 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation of the case is going on.
Police team led by Incharge Manwal Police Post SI Suresh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Ajay Singh Chib, SDPO Nagrota Yashbir Singh Slathia and SP Rural Shivdeep Singh Jamwal.
