SRINAGAR, June 8: Continuing with its efforts to weed out the menace of drug addiction from society, Police arrested a drug peddler and seized 1 kilogrames of charas from his possession at Khanyar area.
A Police spokesman said that a naka was established by police party led by SHO Police Station Khanyar, Parvaiz Ahmad near Konkhan Dalgate and during naka checking one person was found moving around suspiciously & when he was questioned about his movements, he tried to escape but was restrained.
He was identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Ladermud Naina district Pulwama.
“The person was searched and upon his checking, one kilo grams of charas was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested on spot and contraband seized. In this regard, case FIR No. 44/2018 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Khanyar and investigation initiated,” he said.
