Drug peddler arrested with 1500 banned syrup bottles, 2500 intoxicant capsules

JAMMU, Feb 18: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a drug peddler and recovered large quantity of banned syrup bottles and intoxicant capsules from the vehicle he was driving.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gangyal Police Station raised a checking point and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK03D-1578 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops intercepted the vehicle after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 1500 banned syrup bottles and 2500 intoxicant capsules from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
However, one more person, who happens to be the brother of the arrested person managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
The arrested person has been identified as Ravinder Singh, son of Kulwant Singh, a resident of Tral, district Pulwama, at present Belicharana, Jammu.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he and his brother namely Sanjay had brought the consignment from New Delhi for selling among the youth in Jammu and Srinagar. With his arrest, police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 12/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gangyal Police Station and hunt has been launched to arrest the accused, who escaped from the spot.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
