Drug dealers nabbed with heroin, poppy straw

JAMMU, Apr 12: Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ nabbed two drug dealers along with heroin and poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station raised a naka at Preet Nagar and asked two pedestrians to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the persons escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the persons near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 10 grams heroin worth several thousands and one kilogram poppy straw from the possession of the persons and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Tilak Raj alias Kaka, son of Chain Singh, a resident of Nanak Nagar and Balbir Singh alias Sanchu, son of Darshan Singh, a resident of Trikuta Nagar.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that both the persons are known drug dealers and are engaged in selling intoxicants to youth so as to make them drug addicts.
With the arrest of the accused, police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 67/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the names of their other associates and source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Ritesh Sambyal and assisted by Incharge Digiana Police Post PSI Pawan Dogra and PSI Vicky Thappa made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
