Driver killed as petrol tanker plunges into gorge

RAMBAN, Nov 30: A driver was killed, when the petrol tanker he was driving, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Maroog on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AU-3805, on way from Jammu to Srinagar plunged into deep gorge near Maroog on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this morning.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the driver of the vehicle to District Hospital (DH) Ramban, where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Satpal Singh, son of Karnail Singh, a resident of Bypass, Jammu.
The body of the deceased was handed over to family members after completing legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a driver of Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK14C-0338 also got seriously injured, when the vehicle he was driving landed into gorge near Battery Chasma.
The driver identified as Mohammad Saleem, a resident of Pida, district Ramban was rushed to District Hospital (DH), Ramban, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hosptial (GMCH) for advanced treatment.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
