KISHTWAR, Oct 4: A driver was killed, while helper survived when the vehicle they were traveling in, skidded off the road and turned turtle here this morning.
The LP truck bearing registration number JK02AL-5917 was on its way to Kishtwar from Jammu, when the driver failed to negotiate sharp curve and the vehicle turned turtle near Gudian area this morning, causing on the spot death of the driver. The truck was loaded with Government ration and was on its way to Kishtwar from Jammu.
After getting information, police team from Kishtwar police station led by SHO Inspector Sameer Jeelani rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the driver.
The deceased has been identified as Dev Raj (28), son of Joginder Pal, a resident of Haripur, Jammu.
However, the helper engaged with the truck jumped from the vehicle and survived. His identify was not ascertained as he remained untraced till late night.
The body of the deceased was handed over to family members after completing medical-legal formalities.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Kishtwar police station and investigation started.s
