Driver dies as tractor rolls down; 10 pilgrims hurt in road mishap

UDHAMPUR, June 10: One person died when a tractor rolled  down near  Majalta  while ten devotees  on pilgrimage  to Mindhal Mata in Doda were injured when their Tempo was hit by a truck inside Chenani-Nashri tunnel.
A tractor bearing registration number JK14C-8482 rolled down into a deep gorge  at village Sail Kodi Ber, tehsil Majalta, late last night, resulting into death of the driver, identified as  Puran Singh (23),  son of Rattan Singh of Sail Kodi Ber. Another youth,  namely Pawan Singh (24),  son of Krishan Singh of Sail Kodi Ber, who was accompanying the deceased driver, sustained critical injuries in the accident.
Meanwhile, in another accident, 10 devotees on pilgrimage to  Mindhal Mata were injured when their Tempo was hit by a truck inside  Chenani-Nashri Tunnel this afternoon.
The Tampo Travel (JK08E-1947) carrying Mindhal Mata pilgrims from Jammu to Doda, was hit by the truck   JK03E-2079, coming from Srinagar to Jammu. SHO Chenani Sanjeev Singh Chib rushed to  the spot and shifted the injured persons to Sub District Hospital Chenani where four of them were referred to District Hospital Udhampur in view of their critical condition.
The injured were identified as  Bittu (40),  son of Manohar Lal, Rani Devi (36),  wife of Bittu of Sangoor, Shikha (23) wife of Aashish of Nagrota, Shinaya,  daughter of Aashish Dogra, Vijay Kumar (52),  son of Isher Dass of Nagrota,  Kreena Devi (48),  wife of Isher Dass of Nagrota, Sawarna Devi (70),  wife of Joginder of Nagrota, Isha Sharma (25) of Amb Gharota Jammu, Kartik Kumar (25) son of Sanjay Kumar of Gummat Jammu, Sharna Devi (65) wife of Ramsarn of Janipur Jammu.
