Driver, associate arrested for smuggling bovines

JAMMU, Apr 12: Miran Sahib police arrested a driver and his associate for smuggling 15 bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Miran Sahib police station laid a naka on Marallian-Kotli Road and signaled a truck (tralla) bearing registration number JK03D-9892 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 15 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified Shabir Ahmed Lone, son of Habibulla Lone of Kochipura Qazigund, Anantnag and Jhangir Ahmed, son of Gul Mohammad Rather of Tangpora Sopore Kulgam.
The accused were smuggling the bovine animals to Valley, but active cops of Nagrota police station foiled their bid.
A case under FIR Number 66/16 under Section 188/34 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered against the accused at Miran Sahib police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Miran Sahib police station SI Hilal Azhar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
