Driver, associate arrested for smuggling bovines

RAMBAN, June 11: Batote police arrested a driver and his associate for smuggling bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, police team from police station Batote received information from Incharge police post Patnitop that a luxury car had escaped from Patnitop avoiding checking.
Accordingly, a team from Batote police station led by Inspector Sameer Jeelani laid a special naka at Baggu Nallah and the said car bearing registration number PB08AQ-8700 was intercepted.
During checking, police rescued 3 bovine animals loaded in the dickey of the car in a cruel manner and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Nek Mohammad (driver), son of Bashir Ahmed of Ragoora Sidhra, Jammu and his associate Salman Ali, son of Jamait Ali of Duara, District Jammu.
They were trying to smuggle the bovine animals to Valley, but their attempt was foiled by the police.
A case under FIR Number 34/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
