Driver arrested for smuggling bovines, 2 cattle rescued

JAMMU, Jan 17: RS Pura police arrested a driver for smuggling bovine animals and rescued two cattle.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from RS Pura police station laid a naka at Chakroi and signaled a Mahindra Balero bearing registration number JK02BP-9399.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the police cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued two bovine animals from the vehicle and seized it. The driver tried to escape from the spot, but the cops nabbed him.
The accused has been identified as Gourmet Lal, son of Thoru Ram, a resident of Rathana, Arnia.
A case under FIR Number 11/17 under Section 279 and 188 RPC and 3 PCA has been registered against the arrested driver at RS Pura police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO RS Pura Inspector Bhushan Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
