Driver arrested with poppy straw

RAMBAN, Mar 18: Banihal police arrested a truck driver along with 40 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Banihal police station established a naka at grid station Tethar and a truck bearing registration number PB07-6551, which was on its way from Kashmir towards Jammu was intercepted.
During checking, police recovered 40 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the truck driver.
The accused has been identified as Kalvinder Singh, son of Jagdesh Singh of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 29/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Mohammad Afzal made the arrest under supervision of SDPO Banihal Dheeraj Singh Katoch and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
