Dr Misri delivers lecture at DPS on heart defects in children

JAMMU, Feb 15: Delhi Public School organized an Awareness Lecture on the topic Congenital Heart Defects in Children in the premises of the school, here today.
Senior Consultant, Dr. Amit Misri, Division of Pediatric Cardiology, Medanta Heart Institute, was the Key Speaker.
He was accompanied by Sudhanshu Sharma and Mr. Aushotsh.
The programme began with the Saraswati Vandana by the school choir, followed by the welcome address by the Principal DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra.
Dr. Misri explained in detail about the best preventive and curative methods to overcome heart disorders especially in children. He also explained the causes, symptoms and signs of the heart diseases. He motivated the students to adopt healthy lifestyle, avoid junk food, avoid smoking, choose right oils for cooking and above all exercise regularly for 30 to 45 minutes a day.
He suggested many tips for managing cholesterol level, blood sugar and Hypertension.
He urged the students to restrict consumption of butter, red meat and high fat foods.
He  also presented a lovely PPT display.  After the presentation Dr. Misri held an enlightening interactive session with the students in which he answered the queries of the students elaborately. He also appreciated the students for putting up relevant queries on the topic.
Principal DPS Jammu also spoke on the occasion, while Headmistress Meenu Gupta presented vote of thanks.
The session ended with the presentation of National Anthem.
