KATHUA, Feb 24: Terming the partition of the country as a greatest blunder of 20th century, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had opposed it and stood like a rock against the division of the country as it was against its basic  ideology of ‘Akhand Bharat’.
The Union Minister, who was speaking at a function organized by Seema Jagran Manch (SJM) at Samba, also took serious exception to the controversy created over the University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET) and said that no body should play with the career of students for the personnel aggrandizements.
On the partition, he said though Sangh was opposed to it tooth and nail, the will of the proponents of opposite theory who were influenced by some foreign nations prevailed at that time and unfortunately division of country  took place which suited to some leaders from both sides.  “But our stand that if there was two nation theory then why third nation got vindicated with the creation of Bangladesh in 1971”, he added.
Terming the partition a result of Nehruvian blunder, he said had there been no partition there would have been no IB or LoC also.
Doubting the basic concept of secularism, he said “what is secularism. It is no where in any Constitution of any country,. The word given by Nehru and other leaders of Congress is the cause of crisis at present”, he added.

He said instead of parroting the word secular “we should be true Hindus, true Muslims, true Sikhs and true Christians so that there is no confusion in the society”.
He said “had Sardar Patel been Prime Minister after the independence, the part of J&K forcibly occupied by Pakistan would have been with us”. He reiterated the commitment of BJP in restoring that part of J&K to India.
Dr Jitendra Singh also held the Congress leadership responsible for the Kashmir crisis, saying that the Party precipitated crisis by creating unavoidable controversy with then ruler of the State, Maharaja Hari Singh. On accession of the State with India, the then Home Minister of the country, Sardar Vallabh  Bhai Patel sought the support of then RSS chief, Guru Golvalkar in holding parlays with Maharaja, he added.
He said Guru Ji visited Jammu, met Maharaja who was under constant pressure from various quarters and held parlays with him regarding the accession of the State with Indian nation.
The Union Minister, while terming RSS a great patriotic organization said for national interests it even supported those organizations who worked against the basic concept of Sangh.
Dr Jitendra Singh said unlike others, Sangh activists don’t  believe in self appeasement and praises but remain wedded to national cause and render selfless service to country. He said if JP Movement would not have been run by RSS, it won’t have become a success story.
He said the action taken by our valiant forces on borders has never been seen before and the people living along the borders are witness to it.
Dr Singh elaborated about various measures taken by the Government for the welfare of border people and said that no one talked about bunkers in last 70 years. “It was the BJP when in opposition which was demanding bunkers for border people”, he added.
He said 1400 to 1500 community bunkers and 9000 individual bunkers were sanctioned for border areas and Home Ministry has sanctioned Rs 400 crore for the same. He, however accused the State Government of delaying the project.
He said 203 toilets were constructed in border belt and 36 have been sanctioned while rest 200 are in pipeline. These toilet blocks are being constructed purely on voluntary basis, he added.
Terming the Engineering College issue a motivated attempt to demolish this prestigious institute, the Union Minister said it has the potential of one of the prestigious institutes and greatest prospects of placement for students.
He said it is not PDP-BJP or NC-Congress but belongs to students. “We all should take a collective decision in best interests of student community”. He also sought the cooperation of all and intervention of JU VC, Dr R D Sharma in sorting out the issue.  He made a fervent appeal to State Government to reconsider the decision in the larger interests of the student community as their future is attached to the institute.
Dr Jitendra Singh said  “instead of seeing what is right and wrong we are playing with career of students”. “This institute was brought with the great efforts and now attempts are being made to demolish it”, he added.
Asserting that situation in Kashmir is normal, he said there are some vested interests belonging to 10 to 15 families who are precipitating the crisis.
Earlier Union Minister inaugurated Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) at Head Post Office, Kathua.
