AKHNOOR, July 15: Union Minster of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today inaugurated the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya at village Nardi Wala Akhnoor.

Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Priya Sethi, Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore, MLA, Rajeev Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner, NVS, HQ, Noida, Bishwajit Kumar Singh, Joint Commissioner, NVS, HQ, Noida, Deputy Commission, NVS, RO Chandigarh, S.P Kaur Sidhu, Principal, JNV, Akhnoor, Sukhraj Kaur and Principals from various JNVs were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh stressed on imparting quality education where the student can have guarantee of his future. He said the time has now come when the revolutionary decisions have to be taken in education sector.
He said after the independence the need was expansion of educational institutions in the country as there was only one Degree College in entire North India and that was the Degree College of Lahore. Later the Maharaja opened Prince Wales Colleges Jammu. But now the time has changed and people needed quality education, he added.
“The present generation youth need such educational institutions which can give them the job placement guarantees”, he said, adding while first influence of corrupting the students from Class 6th to 12 is of parents bys ending them to coaching centers, the teachers community has an added responsibility to guide the students in right direction and save the children from this corrupting influence.
He while lauding the role of JNVs, KVs and also the Government schools said there is a reverse trend emerging now and for last three years the toppers in IAS are from these institutions. Ridiculing those who talk of discrimination he said “in this competitive age and changing times we have to remove this concept from our minds as there will be no discrimination in Narendra Modi Government with any region”.
He said three children from militancy infested three districts of Kashmir were selected by Military Academy of India and “I regret that no one from Jammu qualified for that”.
He said even last time the IAS ranker was from Kashmir Valley. Dr Jitendra Singh said that no Government in any country of the world can provide job to all youth but the Modi Government has initiated such schemes through which we can make a youth capable of earning his living. In this regard he highlighted the Skill Development, Start up India, tax holidays granted to the youth in opening new units and three years exit period given to him etc.
Dr Jitendra Singh also stressed on framing Shiksha Yojna from Class 6th and guide the student to take the profession as per his or her aptitude and capability. The society has to awake for that and make the educational system proper, he added.
Citing the example of Budhi Higher Secondary School Kathua where on his initiative class rooms were upgraded, computer room constructed,  net facilities given to students, he said  over 100 students from private institutions came to seek admission in this institute. “We are now starting Tele education for the students there” he added.
He said the Government schools have best kind of teaching staff in comparison to private schools but they lack infrastructure  which needs to be created and at Budhi School first time reverse migration has started.
Dr Jitendra Singh said there is no fun of opening large number of institutes when there is no quality education. While citing example of opening new medical colleges and AIIMSs in the State, he said when AIIMSs all over the country are for treating the sick “but I doubt we are not opening a sick AIIMS in Jammu as we don’t have faculty for the Super Specialty of GMC where from we will bring faculty for other medical colleges or AIIMS”, he added.
He also stressed that the professionals and doctors from outside State be also encouraged to work in the State as a precedence set by Late Maharaja Hari Singh.
He congratulated the people of the State to get another prestigious educational institute like JNV and said that more JNVs will be opened in the State.
The Minister showed his satisfaction over the timely completion of the School building and said that the government is focused on time bound completion of development projects especially in education sector.
Listing the major steps taken up by the State Government for improving the infrastructure and logistics facilitates in the educational institutes, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Priya Sethi reiterated that the Government will continue to provide quality education to the students. She said that Jammu is fast emerging as an educational hub with major premiere institutes coming up.
She termed it a great day for the people of the State and said BJP  is with a mission of good governance and development of the State.  The days have gone when the ministers used to cut the ribbons only and the developmental works have to suffer for years together. “Our Government constructed the JNV in a record period of 14 months”, she added.
Making a  dig at previous State Government she said though it started smart class rooms concept in 2012 but no headway was made in two years and our Government constructed 120 smart class rooms  while 400 new are in pipeline.
MP Jugal Kishore Sharma made a dig at the previous Government saying that all projects abandoned by them were taken up in hand by us as Modi Government sanctioned liberal funds fro the development of the State. He said work on four lanning of Akhnoor road will begin soon and also tenders of Rs 206 crore bridge in Akhnoor area will  be opened soon.
