SAMBA, Oct 27: Lashing out at Kashmir centric mainstream politicians for selective condemnation of killings, Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that this attitude of these politicians is also condemnable.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Rajinderpora near here organised in connection with observance of 72nd martyrdom day of Brig Rajinder Singh, a great Dogra warrior and savior of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Jitendra Singh said the Kashmiri apologists’ criminal silence over the killing of Army soldiers is strongly condemnable.
He said having this apologistic approach they would have brought skies down on the name of so called human rights violation in case a stone pelter would have been killed in self defence by the soldier.
To the contrary, these so called mainstream Kashmiri politicians say that it is the fault of jawan who got stone on his head and died. They would talk of aspirations and rights of people forgetting that the jawans of security forces who are working in odd circumstances for defending the unity and integrity of the country also have human rights.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the Kashmiri politicians are trying to portray as if it was the fault of soldiers that the stone hit his head. He wanted to know that what these politicians are trying to convey by such utterances.
He said they are issuing apologistic statements on behalf of stone pelters and opined that the pelters as well as their supporters be dealt seriously under the law of the land and no leniency should be shown to them.
In response to a question that Governor, S P Malik had yesterday said that no talks would be held with Hurriyat who don’t go to bathroom without permission of Pakistan, Dr Jitendra Singh said that he would like to add one more thing to it that the Kashmiri mainstream politicians don’t go to bathroom without the permission of Pak backed Hurriyat. “They are ready to stay constipated for days together if the Hurriyat leadership desires so”, he added.
Earlier addressing the function, Dr Jitendra Singh paid glowing tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh and described him a great hero not only of the State but of entire country. He said the war started to liberate Kashmir from clutches of Pak invaders in 1947 during which Brig Rajinder Singh attained supreme sacrifice still continues. “The greatest tribute to this hero would be that we should not let his sacrifice go waste and I am fully confident that his sacrifice will not go waste and the day is not far away when the face of terrorism will be blackened”, he added.
Holding then Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Muslim League, leader, Ali Mohammed Jinah responsible for partition, he said there is no greater blunder in the history of world than the partition of sub continent in 1947, though majority of people did not want division but Nehru and Jinah were adamant for the same.
Dr Jitendra Singh said even the progressive Muslim writers at that time were also opposed to partition. “Had partition not taken place not only the history of J&K but entire sub continent would have been different”, he added.
The Union Minister said Pakistan sent invaders to Kashmir and then Home Minister, Sardar Patel was in the control of situation fully but suddenly Nehru ordered ceasefire and “it was the result of the same blunder that we still call a portion of our State PoJK because Nehru gave it on platter to Pakistan”.
He said the decision taken by Nehru is a bolt on us as despite the sacrifice of Brig Rajinder Singh and other Dogra warriors, the PoJK was created.
He said later second blunder was done after Bangladesh war in 1972 by then Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi. Though India had captured 90,000 Pak army during Bangladesh war Indira Gandhi released them without any bargaining. She brought Sheikh Abdullah back to power in 1975 and supported him.
Maintaining that the youth of Kashmir want development like other parts of country under Narendra Modi’s Government, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Kashmiris understand that the separatist leaders want to produce the stone pelters and terrorists from neighbors house and send their own children for green pastures.
He said what model of Azadi they are talking about by asking the neighbour’s youth to fight and in the event of death he will get place in heaven. Is it Mahatma Gandhi’s Model or Nelson Mandela’s Model of freedom struggle,” he asked?
The Union Minister said the time has come that Kashmiri leaders should be unmasked who when in power say that Kashmir is an integral part and after losing power put question mark on accession?
He said daily a Rajinder Singh attains martyrdom in Kashmir and these so called Kashmir centric leaders have no sympathy for them. But they talk of aspirations and general sentiments of people. He said “if a soldier fires in self defense what crime he is doing and if he attains martyrdom in stone pelting these leaders have no word of sympathy for him”.
Addressing the function BJP State president, Ravinder Raina, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Chander Parkash Ganga, former Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak, Maj Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, ADC Samba, Ajay Jamwal and others paid glowing tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh and termed him saviour of J&K.
G S Charak demanded that Brig Singh should be given Bharat Ratna and Mahavir Chakra posthumously besides Srinagar Airport be named after him while the local MLA, C P Ganga demanded that the Central University, Jammu which is in the vicinity of the native village of this great son of the soil be named after him. Besides, the road leading to the area be also named after Brig. Rajinder Singh, he added.
Supporting his demand, Jugal Kishore Sharma also demanded construction of Rajinder Singh, ‘Dhawar’ at National Highway in the area. He announced Rs 10 lakh from his MP LAD fund for the same.
The children from various schools and other artists presented cultural programmes and skits on the life history of Martyr.
