NEW DELHI, Sept 24: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today hosted a get-together for a group of students from Udhampur and Reasi districts, currently on a visit to the union capital. He spent nearly two hours in an informal interaction with these students who were mostly in the age group of 16 to 20 years and were mostly studying in different Government schools or Government degree colleges.
The students were highly excited to be face to face with Dr Jitendra Singh who also happens to be the elected Member of Parliament from their area and freely interacted with him. Many of them thanked the Minister for some of the new projects sanctioned for Udhampur and made a particular mention of the Rs 170 crore Devika river cleaning project under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP). Some of the students also demanded his support for improving sports facilities in these districts.
Arrangements were made for the students, most of whom were visiting Delhi for the first time, to visit the museum of Rashtrapati Bhavan which was a rare and unique experience for them at this tender age. In addition, they went for sightseeing to historic destinations like Red Fort and Qutub Minar. Dr Jitendra Singh suggested that a visit could also be arranged for them during the parliament session so that the can witness the proceedings.
In an lively interaction, Dr Jitendra Singh answered a wide range of questions from the students and also responded by offering his views on a number of current topics as well as elaborating several youth-centric initiatives taken by the Modi Government. He said, these young students are going to have the privilege of being the architects of New India which is soon going to emerge as a global power. He said, most of the students in this age group have their aspirations but need to work out their inner aptitude and their inner capacities.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the students, living in relatively peripheral districts of Udhampur and Reasi, have the privilege of being globally connected with their counterparts across the world. Many of them, who have moved out to other parts of the country, have made name for themselves at a young age. In this regard, he mentioned the latest example of a young girl from the area who had excelled herself in the classic role of “Bahar” in the recently premiered theatre version of epic film “Mughal-e-Azam”.
The youngsters rejoiced themselves by clicking selfies with Dr Jitendra Singh who had also invited Poonam Mahajan, young MP and National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) to meet the youth and inspire them by her presence.
