Dr Jitendra announces 6 new online initiatives to mark ‘Good Governance Day’

NEW DELHI, Dec 25: On the occasion of “Good Governance Day” today to mark the birthday of former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh announced six new online initiatives by Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). These include online filing of Immovable Property Returns (IPRs) by IAS Officers from 1st January, 2017, online examination of proposals relating to framing and amendment of Recruitment Rules (RRs), launch of iOS version of e-Employees online App, e-Service book facility from next month, revamped website of DoPT with bilingual option and wider application of online filing of Administrative Progressive Annual Reports (APARs) by officers of All India Services.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the DoPT and its twin Department ARPG have been functioning at a fast track with commitment and passion, the result which is a series of new hi-tech initiatives which are the first of their kind in the Government Sector. He said, there could have been no better day to announce the new initiatives than this day which happens to be the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee who, as Prime Minister, gave us the mantra of “Sushasan” which was given a new and original direction by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Mantra of “Maximum Governance minimum Government”
Union Ministry of Personnel is the nodal ministry dealing with innovations and reforms in governance, said Dr Jitendra Singh and added that every new initiative by this Ministry during the last two years is aimed to achieve ease of Governance and citizen – centric focus.
On “Good Governance Day” last year, Dr Jitendra Singh recalled that DoPT had initiated the exercise to simplify application forms and reduce each application form to a single-page. Over a year later, today, he said, there has been considerable progress in this process.
Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that the Central Information Commission (CIC) has introduced e-Court and DoPT has initiated the task of bringing the two thousand public authorities within the preview of online RTI.
Senior Officers of Govt of India including B.P. Sharma, Union Secretary Personnel, C. Vishwanath Union Secretary DAR&PG & Pensions and Rajiv Kumar, EO & Additional Secretary were present on the occasion.
