NEW DELHI, Apr 16: Union Minister and member of BJP national team for Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD) election, Dr Jitendra Singh has accused the Kejriwal Government in Delhi of deliberately holding back the Municipal Corporation Delhi funds so that the BJP led MCD should not get the credit of fulfilling its commitments to the people of Delhi. He said, on the one hand, Kejriwal laments the lack of cleanliness in Delhi and on the other hand, the BJP led MCD is not allowed to carry forward its Swachhta campaigns as per its plan.
Speaking to media persons during his tour of the Mustafabad Assembly constituency of Delhi, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that an amount of Rs 9000 crore has been earmarked out of the Delhi State budget for utilization by the MCD. However, he said, the Kejriwal Government released only a meagre amount of over Rs 2000 crore and when it was approached for the release of the rest of the amount, the MCD was advised to raise the corporation level taxes on citizens to generate funds. This, he said, was part of a motivated design by the Delhi State Government to squeeze the funds of MCD and to induce it to levy or raise Corporation level taxes and thus earn the displeasure of the citizen .
However, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the people of Delhi have woken up and can now no longer be taken for a ride by the falsehood and deceit suffered by them in the last two years. He said, people of Delhi want to get rid of anarchist rulers who engage in futile experiments like “Odd Even Traffic”, ill-equipped Mohalla clinics etc.
Congress Party, Dr Jitendra Singh said, has also lost the capacity to live up to people’s expectations and in the last three days itself, some of the Congress workers have gone to the extent of lodging FIRs and other complaints against their Delhi based leaders.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that in its next term of MCD, BJP will seek direct transfer of Central funds to the Corporation without being routed through the State Government and so that MCD could complete the unfinished tasks undertaken by it for the local population of Delhi.
