DPs reject Rs 5.50 lakh Union Govt package

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 26: Displaced families from J&K occupied by Pakistan today rejected Rs 5.50 lakh package per family  and decided next course of action with regard to the notification issued by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu  recently.
A meeting of  displaced families from the areas of J&K occupied by Pakistan was held here today to decide future course of action regarding notification issued by Dy Commissioner Jammu on March 19, 20016, inviting comments on draft guidelines for disbursement of relief of Rs 2,000 crores,  sanctioned by  MHA Government of India as one time settlement of DPs of PoJK 1947, Chamb DPs of 1965/1971.
The  objections were made to draft guidelines by the stake holders  and notice issued on 17-02-2017 by Divisional  Commissioner Jammu for filing of claims under  Scheme of Central assistance for one time settlement of  families of Displaced Persons (DP) of 1947 from PoJK and DP families of 1965 & 1971 from Chhamb under PM’s Development Package for J&K-2015. After a detailed  examination of scheme made public by the Government on websites and by media notices  it was decided that the all the POJK displaced families should not  accept the amount of Rs 5.5o  lakh per 1947 family  as one time settlement.
The offer of Rs 5.50 lakh to all DPs’ families made by Govt of India  it is a joke and in no way acceptable in lieu of  left over properties worth crores of rupees at 2017 price.
PoJK DPs also condemn policy of Government to disown the families of PoJK DPs who are presently staying in Indian states other than J&K i.e Punjab, MP, UP, Delhi, Mumbai, etc and  excluding them from any proposals  for DPs. The Government should not  create divides between PoJK DP families of J&K and others staying outside.
The organisation for rights of the 1947 Displaced aamilies from occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir condemns the Action taken by Congress Government in 1971, then by Congress- NC Government in 2014  and thereafter, by BJP- PDP Government of State to disown over 5300 families ( as existed in 1947)  and deny them state subject rights.
