DPS Katra XI wins Football Exhibition match

KATRA, Aug 28: Delhi Public School XI, Katra won the Football Exhibition match by defeating Amba Kids Home XI, Panthal. The match was organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra as part of the week-long celebration of National Sports Day at DPS ground, here.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports and Rajinder Singh, Officer on Special Duty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, gave away prizes to the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion. They also gave away prizes to the star performers of the match. Anshuman Pratap Singh of DPS was adjudged man of the match.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar dwelt on the initiatives which are being taken by the Shrine Board for promotion of sports in Katra and its surrounding rural areas.
He said that the National Sports Day is celebrated every year in honour of the hockey wizard, late Major Dyan Chand on August 29.
R K Verma, Principal, DPS, Katra thanked Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for organizing the Football Exhibition match, which provided a valuable opportunity to the students to demonstrate their sports talent.
Earlier, before commencement of the match, all those present on the occasion paid floral tributes to late Major Dyan Chand, the great Olympian and pride of the nation, by garlanding his portrait.
Among those present on the occasion were D R Sharma, Chief Administrator, Vandana Sharma, Headmaster, DPS, Katra, Ashwani Katoch, Principal, Amba Kids Home, Panthal, teachers and students of the School.
