JAMMU, May 17: ‘Sparsh De Gulmohar’, a collection of Dogri translation of Hindi poems, written by Sangeeta Gupta- Chief Commissioner, Income Tax Department, was released here today.
The poems have been translated in Dogri by Chhatarpal.
The book was released by Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, during a function, jointly organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and PG Department of Dogri, JU. Padmashree ND Sharma, eminent Dogri and English writer, presided over the function, which was attended by Sangeeta Gupta, Chief Commissioner, Income Tax Department and author of original work of `Saparsh Ke Gulmohar’, a collection of Hindi poetry, Prof Sushma Sharma, HoD, PGD of Dogri, University of Jammu, Chhattarpal, translator of the poems and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof R D Sharma, said that such activities play a tremendous role in shaping the all round development of the students and to make them able to serve the society in a better way.
While delivering his presidential address, Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma appreciated the translation of the poetry.
Prof Nirmal Vinod, renowned poet of Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and intellectual, presented a review paper on the `Saparsh De Gulmohar’, Sangeeta Gupta and Chhattarpal also spoke on the occasion and shared their experiences of creative process and translation of the original work respectively.
Prof Sushma Sharma presented welcome address while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn delivered vote of thanks.  Dr Rattan Basotra, Assistant Editor, conducted proceedings of the programme in a befitting manner.
Among others, were present, included Prof Rita Jatindra, Padmashree Dr Jatindra Udhampuri, Dr Om Goswami, Madan Pada, Brijmohan,  Vinod Bhan, Basant Vyogi, Usha Kiran Kiran, teaching faculty, scholars, students and eminent citizens of the region.
