JAMMU, Feb 1: Natraj Natya Kunj Cultural Society, Jammu,  has been selected for performance at Asia’s biggest international theatre festival `19th Bharat Rang Mahotsav’,  being organized by National School of Drama, Autonomous Institution of the Ministry of Culture, Govt  of India.
The Society is going to present its extremely applauded Dogri Play “Blood & Beauty”, a Dogri folk tale, which is scheduled to be performed at Shri Ram Centre of Performing Arts, Delhi on February 7, 2017.
This was informed by president of the group,  Kumar A ‘Bharti’, while talking to media persons, here today.  He said that this was  a proud moment for the  State that a Dogri Play was  going to be presented in this grand international theatre festival BHARANGM,  from 1st of February to 21st of February, showcasing  95 performances from 12 countries.
The play `Blood & Beauty’ is based on the folk tale of “Kunju Chanchlo” which deals with the rift between love and power. It is one of the few Dogri plays,  which are based on the classic folk tales of Himalayan region. The play carries two folk tales together, one is of the ‘Hira Haran’ (from where ‘Haran’, a Dogri folk theatre form, which is on the verge of its dying stage, is generated) and another is a love saga of ‘Kunju Chanchlo’. Both the stories go simultaneously and reach the same end with dramatic symbols created by chorus. The folk music (i.e karak, geetru, pakh), folk dances and visual effects of body theatre  greatly enhance the beauty of play.
The play ‘Blood & Beauty’ has already been adjudged Best Play of 2016 in Drama Festival,  organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and also got Best Production, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Music awards. This Play has already been performed at various places like Jammu, Agartala, Kashmir and  Reasi.
The team is also going to perform this play in Jammu, on 3rd of February 2017 at Abhinav theatre at 5.00 pm and to encourage and bless the team,
The play is designed and directed by Abhishek Bharti, a PHD scholar and an awardee of prestigious ‘Ustav Bismalah Khan Yuva Puraskar’. It is written by Kumar A ‘Bharti’.
