DODA, Sept 29: In order to inculcate the sportsmanship among the youth as well as to channelize their positive energy towards the constructive purpose of the society, J&K Police District Doda organized a five days Sports Festival, under Civic Action Programme (CAP), which concluded at Sports Stadium, here.
The event was held under the patronage of SSP Doda, Mohammad Shabir.
A number of events including Cricket (T20), Tug of War and Kho-Kho were held during the festival.
The final matches of all the three events were held today.
In the Cricket T20, Faridia Model Higher Secondary School, defeated Green Model Higher Secondary School, Doda, while Tug of War event was won by Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Doda and Kho-Kho event was bagged by Govt. Higher Secondary School, Khellani.
Besides these athletic events like 200 Mtrs Race, Javelin Throw, Discuss Throw, Shot Put were conducted for boys and girls separately. On the occasion both the winners and runners-up teams were awarded with a cash prize and trophies.
SSP Doda, Mohammad Shabir was the chief guest on the occasion, who spoke at length about the steps being taken by J&K Police in strengthening the bond of Police and Public besides urged upon the public in general to play a pivotal role in maintaining communal harmony, peace and tranquility.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Vinay Kumar, Additional SP Hqrs, Doda, DySP Hqtrs Doda, Iftkhar Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed Ganai DySP DAR Doda and police/civil Administrative officers of Doda town were present on the occasion.
People of Doda highly appreciated the efforts of Police for conducting such events.
