Doda to get major facelift through various developmental initiatives: Sajad

JAMMU, Feb 23: Minister for Social Welfare, ARI Trainings and Science & Technology, Sajad Gani Lone today said that mountainous Doda district in Jammu region would get the facelift with the tune of Rs 167.71 crore which are being incurred under district plan and NABARD.
The Minister, who is also the Chairman of the District Development Board (DDB) Doda, while chairing the review meeting, said that Rs 104.58 crore have been utilized for building various infrastructure besides to boost education, healthcare, tourism, and agriculture and other activities till date in the district, thus recorded an expenditure of 78.55 per cent against the total out lay so far during current fiscal.
Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board Prof. Nirmal Gupta, Chairperson J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjar and Bakerwals Choudhary Zaffar Ali, Vice Chairperson, J&K State Board for Development of Scheduled Castes, Bushan Lal Dogra, legislators, G.M Saroori, Shakti Raj Parihar, Daleep Singh Parihar, Neelam Kumar Langeh, ,Naresh Kumar Gupta, Shyam Lal Bhagat, the divisional heads of the concerned departments and heads of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
The Minister stressed for utilization of full funds available under various schemes. He impressed upon district administration to work with synergy and ensure implementation of all the DDB decisions in stipulated timeline. He stressed on bringing out revolutionary change in the performance of the departments which are directly connected with the people.
Urging upon the district administration to reach out to the people and focus on development and good governance, the Minister called for judicious use of the existing manpower and their capacity building to ensure better delivery of services.
Lone said people have lot of expectations from the Government and it is the responsibility of the Government functionaries to come up to their expectations. “It is the responsibility of the officers to reach out to the people in every nook and corner of the State to mitigate the sufferings of the people,” he mentioned.
The Minister said that adequate resources are available both through the State Plan and through Prime Minister’s Development Programme for development. “Only thing is to spend this money effectively and within the set time-frame,” Lone added.
The Chairman asked the Deputy Commissioner to ensure the implementation of the Board decisions in letter and spirit and ensure that all works approved for the district are completed as per the decisions.
Lone  also took a detailed review of various  mega projects in Doda such as construction of Ganpat Bridge at Doda, Shiva Dal Steel Girder Bridge, Motorable Bridges over Neeru Nalla at Khulsari, Dheraj and Mounda Bhaderwah, 1.61 Kmt approach road Sartingal to Mounda , Construction of Court Complex Doda, Mini Secretariat Doda, Sub District Hospital Bulding, Bhaderwah, Community Hall, Doda, Sports Stadium Doda, PHC Bhella (Thatri) PHC Barath, PHC Gundna, remodeling of old buildings of District Hospital Doda and Bhaderwah, Construction of Community Hall at Kilhotran, Degree College Kilhotran Bhalessa,  Asraria-Doda Chenab House at Jammu, STF projects of urban development in district Doda, 100 bedded Sub District Hospital, Gandoh and establishment of GMC Doda. He directed the concerned executive agencies to stick to the time lines fixed for completion of these mega projects.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Doda Bopinder Kumar in a power point presentation gave detailed resume of physical and financial achievements registered under district and other plans in the district.
