Doctors’ strike continues in Reasi; protests in Doda, Udhampur, Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 22:   While strike of doctors and other para-medical staff continued in Reasi hospital on the third consecutive day demanding action against the act of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Prasanna Ramaswamy, the doctors at Udhampur, Doda, Leh, Jammu, Akhnoor and several other hospitals also staged protest in support of Dr Ashwani who was detained at Police Station on the directions of the DC.
In Reasi hospital, the OPD remained suspended and work in wards was also affected while emergency unit was functioning. The doctors are sitting on dharna demanding action against the DC. The talks with the Doctors Association have remained inconclusive despite three rounds of talks.

In Udhampur also, the doctors staged protest and suspended OPD work, demanding action against the DC and his high handedness. They strongly supported their colleague and said that DC’s act was unwarranted and unjustified.
The doctors of District Hospital Doda under the banner of Chenab Valley Doctors Association observed two hours strike at District Hospital Doda on Monday where they condemned the behaviour of District Development Commissioner Reasi for harassing a senior orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Ashwani Bhagat who is posted at District Hospital Reasi.
On the call of CVDA, the Consultants posted at District Hospital Doda observe strike and suspends two hours OPD service in this regard.   Speaking on the occasion, spokesperson CVDA District Unit Doda Dr Zia Shoket Mughal said it seems that the District Administation Reasi is misusing their power and how arrogantly they have  arrested the on duty doctor, when around more than100 patients were waiting for his consultation at the OPD.
President CVDA Dr Hamid Parray said that Ashwani was sent by MS DH Reasi to visit DC Reasi for some health related issue.  After giving professional consultation, Dr Bhagat requested the DC to let him go back to hospital where more than 100 patients were waiting for his consultation. But  DC Reasi in the amidst of his ego didn’t allow the said doctor to go back and continue his duties.
District president National Health Mission Employees Association Doda, Faizan A Tramboo in a press statement has also condemned the inhuman act by Deputy Commissioner Reasi and demanded that DC should tender unconditional apology from the aggrieved consultant doctor.
Doctors in Bhaderwah, Leh, Akhnoor, Sarwal Hospital in Jammu also staged protest and suspended OPD work for some time demanding action against the DC Reasi. They strongly condemned the incident and sought intervention of Governor SP Malik into the matter.
